Naadam festival in pictures

This week (starting on the 11th July) Mongolia’s traditional festival, Naadam, whips the country into a frenzy of colourful costume parades, horse racing, archery and Mongolian wrestling contests. We chose some of our favourite pictures of this midsummer fun.

Festival of the Sahara

Every year in late December thousands flock to the desert oasis town of Douz in southern Tunisia, for the country’s oldest and best known festival. Camel marathons, poetry readings, horse races and dancing entertain the crowds. All photos by age fotostock/Robert Harding
